My Favorite Small Businesses on Long Beach Island
What’s one of the best aspects of LBI? (besides the beaches of course) For me, it has to be the small businesses that make it feel like a home. Too often I get asked the question “Where is the best place to get a cup of coffee” or “Where’s a nice place I can take someone to dinner” Well, you’re in luck! I have put together some of my favorite small businesses on LBI.
Coffee Shop – How You Brewin–Surf City
Anyone who knows me knows I love a good cup of coffee (or two, or three). How You Brewin is a laid back, boutique coffee shop with some of the best java around. Not only do they have several varieties of coffee but they also have an assortment of breakfast and lunch options as well. The laid back atmosphere with the subtle music playing in the background is sure to please. They have two locations with their main hub that was just recently re-done and another in Barnegat Lights Viking Village. Can’t make it to the shop? They deliver! Check out their website here for more info.
Italian Market – Mario’s Italian Market–Surf City
The majority of visitors coming to LBI every summer are from the Tri-State region. What’s one thing anyone from this area knows? A good Italian market, and Mario’s is the spot on LBI! From the fresh olive bar to the salads and traditional Italian specialties you will not be disappointed! In my opinion, they make one of the best Italian hoagies around. The best part is, there is a full bakery attached right next door. Do yourself a favor try Mario’s next time you are on LBI!
Comfort Food – The Chicken Or the Egg AKA “The Chegg” -Beach Haven
Jumbo breaded buffalo wings anyone? The Chegg is one of LBI’s most “famous” restaurants for anyone looking for some good old home cooking. Most notoriously known for their chicken wings, which come in a choice of one of their 18 delicious sauces. The Chegg has been featured on the Travel Channels popular series Man Vs. Food where the host Adam Richman took on the “Ludicrous Challenge”. A challenge where you have to eat 12 jumbo wings slathered in their fiery hot Ludicrous sauce in 15 minutes or less without leaving the table. Seems easy enough? Head on over to The Chegg and take on the challenge yourself!
Boutique Shopping – How To Live–Beach Haven
If you’re looking for that perfect gift for someone, How To Live in Beach Haven is the place! From small LBI souvenirs to that unique piece of furniture that you have been looking for forever, this is a wonderful gift shop.
Healthy Meal – Pyour Pour–Surf City
Avocado toast anyone? Pyour Pour in Surf City boasts some of the most delicious and fresh healthy options on all of LBI. Whether you are in the mood for a whole meal or keeping it light with a smoothie or juice, they will have you covered. Not to mention the very friendly staff and adorable atmosphere!
Craft Beer & Raw Bar – Triton Craft Beer & Oyster Bar–Beach Haven
Craft beer lovers rejoice! If you are looking for a great craft beer selection this is the place! Triton Craft Beer & Oyster Bar has a rotating tap of over 20 beers and also a selection of different wines on tap as well. On top of the alcohol selections there is a full raw bar with some of the best oysters and u-peel shrimp on LBI. Best part is they sell bottles of wine and packaged beer to go!
Fine Dining – Black Eyed Susan’s–Harvey Cedars
If you are looking for a nice meal for a special occasion then Black Eyed Susan’s is definitely it! From their homemade bread to their unique entrees this has to be one of the most delicious restaurants on the whole island. Make sure to make a reservation ahead of time because this place definitely fills up fast!
Ice Cream – Skipper Dipper–Long Beach Township
Skipper Dipper has been LBI’s go to ice cream spot since 1978. With over 20 flavors of ice cream and soft serve options as well, they will not disappoint! From sundaes to shakes they have it all. Just make sure to get there early as the lines get extremely long. But hey, it’s worth it!
There you have it! My favorite small businesses on Long Beach Island. Enjoy!
